So of course the month after my warranty ends, my phone's battery decides that it needs to be replaced, asap.
Has anyone had to buy a new one? Or does any one have any idea how much it'd cost?

| usually if you need a new battery, and you're eligible for an upgrade, it's cheaper (or a couple bucks more) to get a new phone. especially if your phone is no longer available |

Really?! That's awesome! I hate my phone haha, it turns itself off aaall the time, the screen is now flickering to brightbrightbright to dark and occasionally normal, for like 2 seconds, the battery life is a total of 6 hours and it's juuust lovely
I don't think my phone is available anymore.. hopefully! This'll be the third time in 7 months that I've taken in to the store, last time they took it for a month, and didn't actually fix it so I think it's time for them to just suck it up and give me a new one! |

| My battery just died too and I still have a year and a bit on my contract. It will cost $70 to replace the battery. Thats more then getting a new phone and contract. Telus said they would give me $150 off a new phone or $200 off a black berry. So still looking at $200 for a blackberry and a new three year term. Now they said I could buy out my contact for $20 per month of my remaining and I can get a blackberry bold for $99 or the curve for $45 and a new 3 yr contract. I think this is what they call the upgrade. So I might do that as its cheaper. Im not sure yet. Im threatening to walk away from my contract and go else where. I hate telus. |

| I meant $5 per month to upgrade. It was $20 per month to get out of my contract. What company are you using? |

i use Rogers, and they are my personal favourite. they offer coverage virtually everywhere on the island (very few dead zones), decent customer service 99.999% of the time. my only complaint is that twice now they have randomly stopped my My5 and caused our normally $95/month family plan+extras bill to come up as over $300. dad called them both times and gave them an earful, and they gave us money back/credit for future bills and such. |

| if youre able to wait a week or two for shipping, you can get really cheap replacement batteries NEW off ebay, they are usually generic but if you know your phone make/model number you can find the right one. i get all mine for my phone and our work phones off there, usually for $0.99 plus shipping. |

| That's a good tip from Giddy Up Pony. I like to have spare batteries for all of my cameras and those are usually quite expensive in camera stores ($80 for the battery for my SLR) but I've bought generic ones from eBay for just a couple of dollars. Sometimes you have to get them shipped from Hong Kong but it's such a small item that the shipping isn't very much. |

I'm with Telus.. lovely, lovely Telus. If I take it in again, which I'm going to, tonight I think, I seriously just want a new phone. I'm so frustrated with them
Thanks for everyone's input! I'll try the Ebay battery thing if the people at Telus don't help at all. |

I found my battery for $9 on ebay with free shipping. Should be here next week. And its in canada. Thats way better then having to pay $70 for a new battery. I hate Telus. I think I will find a new cell phone company when my contract is up. At least I dont have to pay more for a new phone or upgrade right now. I got my mom a new battery too as her cell phone battery has nearly died too. |
